Abstract

This educational outreach activity was motivated by the increasing vulnerability of adolescents to Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) due to limited knowledge of reproductive health. This study aims to improve adolescents’ understanding of the definition, types, symptoms, modes of transmission, and prevention of STIs among students of SMPN 03 Sintang. The method used was a descriptive approach through health education activities employing lectures and question-and-answer sessions. The target participants were 53 adolescent students who took part in the entire activity. The implementation consisted of four stages: opening, material delivery, evaluation, and closing. Data were collected through observation and participants’ active involvement during the sessions. The results showed that more than 85% of participants were able to answer questions correctly, indicating an improvement in their understanding of STIs. Participants also demonstrated high enthusiasm during discussions. Therefore, health education is proven to be effective in enhancing adolescents’ knowledge about STIs. This activity is expected to encourage healthy behavior and increase adolescents’ awareness in maintaining reproductive health as an effort to prevent STIs from an early age.
