Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the ice cream production line at PT Yili Indonesia Dairy and to develop improvement proposals for the cleaning process using the Eliminate, Reduce, Combine, Simplify (ERCS) method. The study focuses on reducing cleaning time to improve Availability and equipment effectiveness. The research was conducted through direct observation of eight production cycles by collecting data on loading time, breakdown time, cleaning duration, production output, and product quality. The OEE value was calculated based on the Availability, Performance, and Quality components, while cleaning activities were analyzed using the Value-Added Activity (VA), Necessary Non-Value-Added Activity (NNVA), and Non-Value-Added Activity (NVA) approaches as the basis for developing improvement proposals using the ERCS method.The results showed that the average Availability, Performance, and Quality values were 84.18%, 97.60%, and 99.24%, respectively, resulting in an average OEE value of 81.54%, which is below the world-class OEE benchmark of 85%. Based on the proposed improvements, the cleaning duration was reduced from 4.78 hours to 3.75 hours, resulting in projected increases in Availability and OEE to 86.76% and 84.05%, respectively. These findings indicate that the ERCS method has the potential to improve cleaning process efficiency and equipment effectiveness.
