Abstract

Self-efficacy is an individual’s belief about their own abilities to control things in their own life. Pregnant women need to prepare themselves to pass the birthing process calmly, confidently and smoothly. A support system also needs to be prepared, especially from your partner or closest family and from health services. One of the efforts of health services to prepare for childbirth is prenatal couple yoga exercises. Prenatal couple yoga is a modification of prenatal yoga that is done together with your husband. It is hoped that prenatal couple yoga practice can increase the mother's motivation in preparing herself for childbirth so that it will form the mother's confidence to give birth comfortably. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of prenatal couple yoga with husband on the self-efficacy of third trimester primigravida pregnant women in preparing for childbirth. This research is a quasi-experimental method with a pre-posttest design approach. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling with a total sample of 42 pregnant women. The research results showed that in the intervention group the mean self-efficacy score of pregnant women in preparing for childbirth had increased. The research results based on the independent t test obtained a p value <0.001 which was very significant in the difference in the mean self-efficacy scores of pregnant women in preparing for childbirth in the intervention group and the control group. Prenatal couple yoga with husband significantly increases the self-efficacy of third trimester primigravida pregnant women in preparing for childbirth.
