Abstract

Nature-Based Tourism has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by the growing public interest in outdoor recreation, health-oriented activities, and authentic experiences in the natural environment. However, the rapid increase in tourist arrivals can create environmental pressures, including vegetation degradation, trail erosion, habitat disturbance, biodiversity loss, and safety risks. This study aims to examine the role of tourism carrying capacity and risk management in supporting the sustainable development of nature-based tourist destinations. This study applies a qualitative method by collecting data through interviews, field observations and documentation, the collected data is analyzed interactively to be presented and conclusions drawn. The results of the study show that nature-based tourism activities in Lawe Benowo Waterfall include Nature Recreational Activities, Nature Sports Activities and Nature Adventure Activities. The management of the area has paid attention to the carrying capacity of the environment. In carrying out activities there are a number of risks, including geological risks, biological, environmental, operational, activities, to overcome the risks, managers have carried out integrated risk management efforts.
