Abstract

This community service initiative sought to enhance students’ proficiency in preparing scientific papers using Microsoft Word at SMP Negeri 1 Banyuputih. The activity was conducted due to the limited digital literacy and students’ understanding of scientific writing structure at the intermediate educational stage. The research methodology employed in this investigation was a quantitative descriptive approach involving 12 students as participants. The implementation stages included material presentation, direct practice, and evaluation through questionnaires. Data were gathered through systematic observation, comprehensive documentation, and the administration of a likert scale questionnaire that comprised ten distinct statements. The results showed that most participants gave positive responses toward the training activities. Students demonstrated improved understanding of scientific writing structure and the application of Microsoft Word functionalities including headings, numerical sequencing, and the generation of an automatic table of contents. The practical training method also increased students’ enthusiasm and participation during the activity. The findings indicate that Microsoft Word-based scientific writing training can effectively support students’ digital literacy and academic skills development. This activity is expected to become a reference for implementing similar digital literacy programs is school environments.
